“Ten Living Cities” Symposium & Arts Festival is looking for professional photographers to submit work showing why the “10 Fastest Dying Cities,” as selected by Forbes magazine in August 5, 2008 issue, are “10 Living Cities”.

We are looking for photographers to submit work from the 10 selected cities to prove nothing could be further from the truth. Help show the world why these cities are great places to live, work and experience. Photographs should be taken between August 5, 2008 and July 20, 2009.  Photography only. No artwork or electronically altered images. We are looking for true, accurate documentation of these cities. All images should be submitted electronically in the highest resolution possible.  The contest is open to photographers ages 18 and over. The best 10 pieces of work from each city will be displayed at the Ten Fastest Dying Cities Symposium and Arts Festival on August 7-9, 2009 in Dayton, Ohio.

Photo Contest Rules

Term: Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival photo contest ends at midnight July 20, 2009  Eastern  Standard Time (EST). By submitting an entry, each contestant agrees to the rules of the contest and states that they are 18 years old and older.

Who may enter: Photographers ages 18 and over. Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival will determine winners’ eligibility.

What to enter: Photographers may submit up to 3 entries. Photography must help illustrate why Buffalo,NY: Canton, OH; Charleston, WV; Cleveland, OH; Dayton, OH; Detroit, MI; Flint, MI; Scranton,PA;  Springfield, MA and/or Youngstown, OH are “living” cities.

The contest is asking photographers to share their interpretation of why their selected city is vibrant, active and “alive”.

Photos that violate or infringe upon another person’s copyright are not eligible.

How to enter: Please submit photographs on-line through our Web site at www.tenlivingcities.org/photos. We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail. Submit no more than three (3) photographs per person. We do not accept more than one contestant per e-mail address.

High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Photographs must be in a .jpeg, .jpg or .gif format.

Contest judges reserve the right to disqualify contestants who are unable to submit, upon request, a high-resolution photograph of at least 300 dpi at 5 x 7 inches or an original photo negative, print or slide.

By entering the contest, entrants grant Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival  a royalty-free, world-wide, perpetual, non-exclusive license to display, distribute, reproduce, and create derivative works of the entries, in whole or in part, in any media now existing or subsequently developed, for any Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival purpose, including, but not limited to advertising and promotion of the organization and its Web site, exhibition, and commercial products. Photographs may appear on www.tenlivingcities.org. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit. The Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

Entry deadline: All digital entries must be received by midnight July 20, 2009.

Judging: Judging will be conducted by a panel of photographer and community members. Winning photographs will be exhibited at the event. Decisions of the judges will be final.  Please do not contact us about the status of entries.  The winners will be notified by July 30, 2009.  The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival reserves the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival will be final.

Prizes: Photos will be displayed at the Ten Living Cities Symposium & Art Festival August 7-9, 2009 in Dayton, Ohio.
